Sonja Šaric Soprano, Serbia "I am so happy to be invited to present myself as a singer, in company with some other great artists." What inspired you to become a singer? I remember that I really loved to sing as a child. I used to perform in my mum's clothes and shoes in front of the mirror. Beautiful harmonies inspired me: music lines that were perfectly combined – a million notes dancing together perfectly. Today I know that it is not just about the harmony of music, it is also the harmony that music enwokes in the souls of performers and audiences. I love these precious moments. What’s your dream role and why? My dream role today is Tosca! Tomorrow I might say something else, but I think it is a dream role for every soprano. Who is your favourite singer and why? My favourite singer is definitely Leontyne Price. What do you hope to achieve by participating in The Queen Sonja International Music Competition? The Queen Sonja Competition is one very famous singing competition. I am so happy to be invited to present my singing and myself as an artist, in company with some other great artists. I love competitions, they give this special "sports"-moment to the arts. What kind of demands do you believe the future’s opera singers must fulfill to make a career? There are a lot of demands, but I think the most important is to be unique, and to be yourself.
