Natalia Tanasii Soprano, Moldova “I just admire every person who decided to follow this difficult dream – to be a singer.” What inspired you to become a singer? I sang from my early years, always organizing "concerts" in front of my family. My inspiration was probably the freedom my parents encouraged me to explore – to be a little artist. And of course I really loved and continue to love music. What’s your dream role and why? I have more than just one dream role. Today, my dream roles are Tatjana and Mimi, whereas in the future I hope to sing the roles of Madama Butterfly and Floria Tosca. Who is your favourite singer and why? Every singer can be my favourite; if I believe him, if I feel his heart through his music, if the voice is healthy and generous. I just admire every person who decided to follow this difficult dream - to be a singer. What do you hope to achieve by participating in The Queen Sonja International Music Competition? QSIMC is first of all a challenge for myself. I believe it's one of the best competitions, and by participating, I can prove that I am ready and strong enough to continue to discover myself as a singer. Experience and emotions – that's what I need. Tell us something surprising or unexpected about yourself! I love cooking and baking. I do dance at home but almost never sing opera home. I would also never drive a car and smoke. What kind of demands do you believe the future’s opera singers must fulfill to make a career? Be flexible, be smart, look good, be easy going, and never forget that your voice is your precious instrument. Anything else you would like to mention? I am happy to be going back to Oslo! I spent two years there at the Opera, so it feels like home.
