What inspired you to become a singer?
My first teacher was an old lady, a former opera diva. I took private lessons in her flat that looked like a theater dressing room. I was enchanted by the magical world she represented in my eyes. It was she who lit the flame of passion for opera in me.
What’s your dream role and why?
I would love to sing Juliette from I Capuleti e i Montecchi because of it’s touching story.
Who is your favourite singer and why?
My favourite singer at the moment is Kathleen Battle. Her singing style is close to mine and I also like her personality.
What do you hope to achieve by participating in The Queen Sonja International Music Competition?
It’s a great opportunity for me to present myself to the Norwegian audience, and I’m also excited to sing for a jury consisting of such admirable members.
Tell us something surprising or unexpected about yourself!
I have five siblings. And I’m a disaster when it comes to travelling. I don’t know why, but I keep experiencing very weird and sometimes even a little dangerous things when I travel.
What kind of demands do you believe the future’s opera singers must fulfill to make a career?
The most important thing is determination and hard work. You have to come outside your comfort zone, focus on your goals and believe in your ability to achieve them. You also need a lot of luck.
