Seungju Bahg Tenor, South Korea «This competition is a great challenge for me, because I have to prepare so many art songs and opera arias or oratorios.» What inspired you to become a singer? My father is a tenor, so I grew up listening to my father's songs during my childhood. These songs seem to be the basis of why I wanted to become a singer. What’s your dream role and why? My dream role is Ferrando from the opera Cosi fan tutte because it was the first role I studied during my singing study, and it was the moment I fell in love with the opera. Who is your favourite singer and why? Luciano Pavarotti. He has very accurate vocal techniques. He is one of the best singers in all categories of art song and opera. Of course, I also hope to be like that. What do you hope to achieve by participating in The Queen Sonja International Music Competition? I would like to share my dreams and future plans with many participants and the jury, and to check my development possibilities. It is also a great honor to sing in a wonderful theater. Is there anything else you would like to tell us, which might be interesting to the public? This competition is a great challenge for me, because I have to prepare so many art songs and opera arias or oratorios. Also, singing alone in a very nice theater is a dream. I will do my best to demonstrate my talents.
