“Photography has much in common with opera music; both created a long time ago and living forever”

1) What inspired you to become a singer?

Classical music has surrounded me since childhood, because I enjoyed my mother’s singing. She is an Orenburg State Philharmonic soloist and I used to go to her concerts. But ‘till I was 15 I wanted to become a pianist, that’s why I studied the piano in music school. When I entered the music college and later at the institute I was already determined to become an opera singer, and I am happy that my dream came true!

2) What’s your dream role and why?

I would love to perform Violetta. It would be a wonderful experience to create this character on the stage, to enjoy the awesome music of Verdi.

3) Who is your favourite opera singer and why?

I cannot help admiring the art of Mirella Freni, Joan Sutherland, Renata Tebaldi, Renee Fleming, and many other great singers. The singer that listen to the most now is the young and talented Pretty Yende.

4) What do you hope to achieve by participating in The Queen Sonja International Music Competition?

Participation in the competition is a wonderful opportunity to try my forces, to show all that I have done, to listen to singers from other countries. The most desirable dream is to please the public and to get pleasure from my singing. I think I, as well as other participants, want to achieve a great result!

5) Tell us something surprising or unexpected about yourself!

I am fond of photography. I think a photo can create an image of a person able to transmit to eternity. It has much in common with opera music, created a long time ago and living forever!

6) Is there anything else you would like to tell us, which might be interesting to the public?

All the places of my education are connected with names of great Russian musicians. In my home town Orenburg I started my music career at the State Institute of Art named after Leopold and Mstislav Rostropovich, and now I graduated from Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Music Centre. It is a great honour to adopt their experience I am so proud to be an integral part of it!
