"The evil characters of the opera world fascinate me. Their complex nature, their thinking and how they pursue their dark intentions are the most interesting parts to prepare for a role"

1) What inspired you to become a singer?

When I was 15 years old, I originally wanted to pursue a professional boxing career. My late father was a sports journalist and a writer who encouraged me to work hard for the career I originally wanted to have. But it took me a while to recognise that it wasn’t the boxing which fascinated me but rather the performance in the boxing ring which brought me a lot of emotions and feelings after a victory.

Therefore I quit my boxing career and started taking singing lessons with a private teacher to whom I was introduced to by accident. She opened a whole new world for me. Up until this time I had no idea about opera and classical music. At the beginning all this was just an expermiment where I wanted to explore something new. After a while I got hooked and I started listening to all the big composers and their orchestral music until the early morning of every night for months. And this passion for classical music has lasted until today.

2) What’s your dream role and why?

My dream roles are Don Giovanni and Alberich und Jago.

Since I began studying, the evil characters of the opera world have fascinated me.  Their complex nature, their thinking and how they pursue their dark intentions are the most interesting parts to prepare for a role. Their diverse characters allow a singer to create different colors and nuances throughout the role.

3) Who is your favourite opera singer and why?

Giorgio Zancanaro, he has a very noble and elegant voice leading in all the roles he sang. His timbre is unbeliveably beautiful and unique.

4) What do you hope to achieve by participating in The Queen Sonja International Music Competition?

I hope to get the chance to connect with new interesting people from all over the world, and I hope that new doors will open so that I can start an international career as an opera singer.

5) Tell us something surprising or unexpected about yourself!

As I’ve already mentioned I am very fascinated with the evil and dark characters of the opera world. My private character is completely different. I am a huge animal lover and in my free time I enjoy going to the zoo and watch my favourite animals – Pandas- for hours. I also have a cat – his name is Figaro. I would also love to own a dog if I have a house and garden in the future. My favourite dog is a Shiba Inu who I would love to travel around with. But I guess I have to be patient for a few years.

6) Is there anything else you would like to tell us, which might be interesting to the public?

I am not only just an opera freak but also listen to a lot of other Genres. For me it is only important that the music touches me with it’s unique sound.
