Pianists Lina Braaten Lina Braaten returns to The Queen Sonja International Music Competition as a highly regarded accompanist both for singers and instrumentalists. She has won prizes for chamber music performance and as a solo pianist, including first prize in the Nordic Lied Duo Competition. She works at the Norwegian Opera Academy in Oslo as a répétiteur, and as an accompanist at the Norwegian Academy of Music, and has performed with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, given a solo recital at the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival and performed in Tokyo during the Grieg Celebration in 2007. Erling Ragnar Eriksen Professor Erling R. Eriksen teaches at the University of Stavanger. He has performed in a number of European cities, as well as in USA, Canada, Japan and China, in venues like Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, New York, Glenn Gould Studio, Toronto, Wigmore Hall, London, Symphony Hall, Birmingham, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona, Palacio Real de El Pardo, Madrid and The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet. Eriksen gives regular master classes and has in this capacity visited Rome, Pescara, Weimar, Stockholm, Paris, Nanjing and Guangzhou. He has also released a number of CDs. Christian Hundsnes Grøvlen Pianist Christian Hundsnes Grøvlen is considered one of the very promising young artists in Norway. He has distinguished himself as a great soloist and chamber musician, both nationally and internationally. He is also an esteemed partner for singers. Mr. Grøvlen has won several awards in competitions both at home and abroad, participated in most of the major festivals in Norway, played with several Norwegian orchestras and worked with some of the most prominent musicians in Norway. John Lidal John Lidal has been a central figure for several years at the Queen Sonja International Music Competition, during the individual rounds, at recitals and master classes. He has been a Manhattan School of Music faculty member since 2001 and has worked with numerous world-class singers individually and at a number of international opera houses. He has been with the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet's music staff as vocal coach for several years and is much in demand for masterclasses and private coaching worldwide. Mr. Lidal is Artistic Director of the Lidal/North International Opera Workshops. Mona Spigseth Mona Spigseth works as an assistant professor at the Institute of Music, NTNU. Besides teaching piano, chamber music and interpretation, she has an extensive career as a pianist and accompanist. She has been a soloist with all the Norwegian symphony orchestras and Trondheimsolistene, and has on several occasions given concerts in Italy, Spain, Denmark, Sweden and England. Mona is a sought after accompanist.
